The Steinmetz Bear

The Steinmetz Bear

The Steinmetz Bear is a commissioned acrylic painting of a northern Minnesota black bear that was tracked by a hunter who wanted to keep the bear’s memory alive. When asked to paint this piece, it was requested to include the “bait pile” — consisting of sugar cookies, red licorice whips and blue peanuts — which you can see in the grasses at the base of the tree on the left. The finished painting now hangs in the hunter’s private collection in Rochester, Minnesota — right next to the hide.
