“Monochrome Wren” was my first attempt at a “loose” watercolor painting. It was more difficult than I had anticipated because I usually paint in acrylic and with a lot of detail. Letting paint flow wherever it wanted to go and then splatter paint for a whimsical effect was a challenge. To push myself out of my comfort zone, I decided to do a series of four birds, this being the first.
